Volunteers and Tax Guide

The Tax Office has released a new version of its guide Volunteers and tax (NAT 4612-04.2008).

Volunteers and tax helps individuals and non-profit organisations that deal with volunteers by explaining the tax treatment of transactions that commonly occur between them and their volunteers.

The AEMVF, ably supported by the Attorney General’s Department, and the Australian Tax Office, staged the third Emergency Management Volunteers Summit in Canberra on 30-31 May. The themes were “Partnerships, Experiences, Solutions,” and the slogan was: “The Future is in our Hands”.

Federal Attorney-General and Minister for Emergency Management Nicola Roxon and SA's Emergency Services Minister Jennifer Rankine today launched guidelines to ensure that communities in need receive appropriate donations following a disaster. The National Guidelines for Managing Donated Goods was created to give communities clear advice on the most effective way to support the recovery process.
